    Default Fishing Reg question

So I was calling a few places today checking reports and such. I called one Corp lake office and they told me they were catching crappie at the marina around the slips. I said so the lake is clear and you can work in and around the slips? He said yes but I would have to pay to fish around the marina. I asked why and he well the marina owner owns a certain amount of the water around it..........

I have never heard anything like this. I always thought that the marina on a corp lake was leased water space but as long as you were not on his dock, cables, or structure you could fish in and around the marina as they did not own the water. I told the guy i have never heard anything like and given the amount of boat taxes i paid in Dec (still not happy about that) there was no way I was going to pay someone to fish public water from my boat. I could see if I was on his dock but from my boat....? The guy want on to say it was a Corp of Engineer reg and was clearly written....

    Anyone here know for sure.....???

Yep, he told ya true! There used to be an old marina owner that just loved calling the sherrif on fishers. Some of us just ended up not doing business there anymore.

    Well that just blows

Well I spoke to the manager at the state park at Milford and he said just the opposite.....he told me as long as I was not on any of the structures.....fish away. I guess i will have to flesh this.......

as I was told, their lease includes the waterway, if your boat is impeding boat traffic or in the designated area of their lease you are breaking the law. Some marina owners allow fishers boats to fish around the docks as long as the slip renters dont complain and there arent any problems, but some dipstick always screws up a good thing.

I know that you can fish around military marina docks. You are not allowed to tie up to the docks. People were fishing from the dock last winter
