what is a good speed for trolling for wipers and walleye

Hey Happy for your Walleye guiding and success but this is a Crappie Forum so can't get why you use this site to advertise your Walleye Guide Service I am sure there are a few Walleye sites to advertise your service on.If I am wrong please correct me

Shane is a moderator here on crappie.com and as far as I'm concerned he is doing me the favor, he can advertise all he wants. But in any case, he's a great guy and all I see is that he's sharing good fishing information on the Off Topic board, and that's exactly what this is for.

It's OT, you can talk gardening or car repair if you want. We've made nice friends here and if we want to share more than crappie fishing stories with our friends, that's not only OK, it's encouraged.

I'll start with Walleye .......Milford with a strong north wind First fish a 19" walleye .Then a dozen or so whites 3 ok crappie some channels and blue cats then some large drum and 3 golden eyes.don't like seeing them show up. I for one look foward to Shanes walleye reports . Shane Im not suckin up but my lowrance hat is really starting to smell.I'll try and post some of our Oahe Fish. Our 25's and 27 1/2 inch walleye were turned back to fight another day.We pulled spinners for 3 days different styles and some slow death rigs our speed was .9 to 1.3 .today on Milford in the wind we pulled cranks and bubbas at 2 to 2.5 mph.

If you were to come fish El Dorado with me sometime for pleasure ( not a guide trip ) I will make sure your NEW LOWRANCE HAT will go home with ya.. My Youngest Daughter just fished Oahe for the MWC/Cabela's Regional Walleye Championship a few weeks ago and took 36th place.. I don't remember how many were in that tournament but there were over 100 teams in both coming from 6 states. I am very proud of her as a father and a fisherman.. She is 14 years old but has fished several tournaments and impresses me every time...

Those are some nice fish from Oahe WC... Maybe we should have called you for some inside info before the tournament....

We were using Macks Purple with purple beads hung one of the big fish slow death and a silver prop blade with a white torpedo body when a macks silver with a pink and white torpedo floater body,we stayed at chanteer creek and started from the boat ramp eather direction biggest fish came left of the boat ramp then the fish in the pic,came to the right running 20 to 30 fow with the kicker at .9 yo 1.3 mph.that was as fast as we went each day we had 60 fish days to get limits of 18 " and larger. some more pics of the sights and good times.

This thread has been pretty quite for a while...
After the Fishing with no Boundaries event on Sunday I went out fishing with my dad in the afternoon. Didn't have a gameplan so we hit some brushpiles with minnows. Slow bite and only a couple dinks so we started trolling around looking at new areas that we hadn't ever fished. Picked up a keeper walleye in about 3ft of water. Cool. An hour or two later we started trolling deeper and picked up a keeper wiper. Kept going back and forth in the area pulling cranks in 15-22ft of water at about 2.5mph, each time picking up a wiper or two. Think we only caught a dozen or so wipers from the area but 8 of them were between 20.5in-23in, could of caught more but they take so long to get up to the boat. Catching died down as evening approached, figured they moved on in search of an evening meal. By this time we were wore out so we called it a day ourselves and left pleased with our catch.

Here is a screen grab of my depth finder of the fish we were picking up. You can see fish on the sidescan, downscan, and the regular sonar.


Wish I could of got the two that I took out for FWNB on these fish. They would of had there hands full. Would of had to use my rods and reels, don't think there zebco's would of held up.
