anchoring system

Was wondering what is the best anchoring system for the Kansas lakes.
I have a 2007 20.5 Lund and I am having a hard time hooking up . I use
a 15 Digger with 200 foot of rope and probably hook up 50% of the time.
Gets to be a real pain in the back for an ole fart to pull in and try again.

Any thoughts on this would be welcome.

I wish I had an answer for you but unfortunately I have the same problems getting my anchor to hook up. I finally bought the IPilot for my trolling motor and just set the spot lock once I get positioned. It works great unless the wind is outrageous. The spot lock will keep me within about 5 or 6 feet of where I set it, again, providing the wind isnt blowing really hard.

Are you using a chain on the end of your anchor?? This helps...

The big boys don't use the chains, the put a small anchor (5# mushroom) 3'-5' up the line ahead of their main anchor. My partner showed me this, it would hold you on ice. I already know the answer if you try it and "Your Welcome" Thumbs Up

i have seen em over here just drop the anchor in the middle of the brush pile where other guys are fishin holds every time may have to try it doc no answer till i try it my loz buddy uses a concrete block at each end of the boat that will also hold the boat in a brush pile he doesn't want the boat movin when we are jiggin takes a while for the fish to come back to the pile but don't lose as many jigs if the block gets hung just cut it off not out a 25.00 anchor just in another day on the lake??? oh buy the way doc i won't try it on ice

Hey now that sounds like something I will try. I am under the assumption that you do not use a chain on a digger anchor.
It is something I have not tried yet. I seem to hook up ok on a flat muddy bottom but have difficulty on a hard bottom or a slow drop off.
I fish mostly for walleye so hitting the structure is very critical for me.

doc i can see that workin on drop offs and ridges but like 18 said will it work like on solid rock or pea gravel??

OK, do you think a chain would be better? So far we've never lost our anchor point. We've had to use it in some tournaments when the winds were 30-40mph and we replaced our seats with saddles. It's the "unhooking" part thats the funnest. :Hands Clapping
