Anyone know how to reset a HB 597 when the off switch won't work? Display says "No GPS receiver connected". Hate to pull it out of the holder. Help line is closed. Googled it but no luck.

Is the message stuck on the screen or are you really just wanting to power down? Pushing exit, maybe any button, should get rid of that message. As for bad off switch. .is it bad or just frozen and you need to just try and hold the off/power button until it powers down. I've had this happen with a bad waypoint before. The unit would lockup and holding the power button was the only thing that would work.
Thanks for the replies. Tried all the switches with no luck. Finally just pulled it out of the holder. Seems to be ok now. Locked it up trying to add waypoints in the garage. It hasn't even been on the water.
Do you have the latest software on the FF? Is your humminbirdpc the latest also? Check out your waypoints in the program and make sure your dates on the waypoints are at least correct.
Yes, the unit is new and the software is up to date. Checked that on the hb site. Also got the hbpc program this week and a 4 gig chip. The dates are added when I type in a waypoint so not sure what you mean. I'm pulling them from my handheld garmin with no computer hook up. Also known as the hard way I suppose. I appreciate any help. I'm a rookie at this. My last finder was an Eagle 480 and it's junk. Hope I can figure this one out. It's got the DI feature but no side scan.
Like LBM said, PM Greg. He works @ HB. He & his co-worker, Wayne, have a website for all HB si units, but I know he can answer any HB question. Good luck
