It's all a guessing game at this point but my guess is that none of the northern half of the big 12 will ever get a higher tier type coach for very long. K-State is very fortunate to have Snyder, he is about as top tier as they come in any league. Snyder knows how to go get recruits from the JC's to fill out the lack of recruiting of top high school players in the nation especially having to compete in that area with the South schools gobbling up the best of the best. The northern schools (including my team Nebraska have never done well consistantly recruiting that area) because they have nothing to offer other than a chance to play earlier than in the south. For a top tier coach to come there has to be stability in all aspects. With Tejas and the Okies poised to leave the conference at any time and having controlling interest in the monies It will be hard to pull a coach for long term of the caliber you need. If one did come, I would bet it would only be on a short term contract or a sweet buyout deal on the coaches part when he decided it was time for him to leave. However most fans at this point don't care or think long term, they just want to win NOW. No one can blame them either. Since my team is no longer in the conference I would love to see K-State remain competitive and I would love to see KU and even Iowa State become consistantly competitive as they are well deserving teams and schools.
