I was going to say Tanycomo. I renctly went on a fly fishing trip down with tandon fly outfitter and he did a great job of putting us on the fish and providing supplies. I post a long article and a couple of videos on our website below.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

Nate,if you want to catch trout try the Missouri trout parks (bennet springs-roaring river). Also, fished Taneycomo alot before discovering the White river in Arkansas ,which I prefer.KDWP stocks trout in certain lakes and outlets around Ks.Presentations vary depending upon the area fished.
Since you mentioned buying a trout stamp, I assume you mean that you want to trout fish at some of the put-n-take lakes in KS. Go ahead and buy the stamp! Trout fishing is easy and fun, and the equipment is minimal. The trout are tasty to eat smoked or I also like to wrap them in foil and grill them with butter and lemon pepper.
The fastest way to catch them in KS is to use an ultralight spinning combo with 4# mono or lighter. Tie on a #6 or #8 trout hook and pinch a small split shot 4" to 6" above that. Use the smallest weight possible. If you can cast it 25'-30', then you have more than enough. For bait you can use the berkley trout bait rolled into a ball just big enough to float the hook up off the bottom (maybe 5/8" diameter), or some guys use a kernel of canned corn or a salmon egg. Just cast it out, reel up the excess slack, and wait... similar to catfishing. If you are in the right spot on the right day, you can hardly keep your bait in the water and will get your 5 fish limit in 20-30 mins. Small needle-nose pliers are a must because the hooks are tiny and the trout tend to swallow the bait.
You can also fly-fish for them when they are really active, or throw a little inline spinner on your ultralight rig.
PM me if you want any more info on the way I fish for them or prepare them. You see guys out there fishing with all kinds of rigs, but the way I described is the most effective way I have found. Been fishing for them ever since my dad used to take me over to Lake Shawnee to doodlesock them when I was just a runt. The lighter you go on the line and action of the pole, the more fun it is to catch them. Sometimes they really jump and put on a good show!
Good luck to you!
I am just pullin' your leg.:D

I've had good luck with a Little Cleo casting spoon or with 1/2 nightcrawler pumped up with air to keep it off the bottom rigged with small gold hook through the nose. small split shot 12 inches above the hook and 1/2 ounce slip weight for casting distance if needed. Cast out take up the slack then open the bail open so the trout can run with it before setting the hook. I gutted and scaled them, put butter inside the belly cavity, lemon slices on the skin, wrapped in foil so it is leak proof then grilled on the coals for 8 minutes per side. The meat and will fall off the bones and skin when done. The ex wife made me cut the heads off so the trout was not looking back at her while she ate them, but I left the heads on for me. Either way is okay. Good luck.
Are trout just large minnows? Or do they belong to the carp family.
Lake Shawnee is a good bet for some easy trout, pretty tasty on the grill with leomon pepper and butter!
