Default Inflatible pfd's have to worn? Maybe not.

Heard from several folks that they were told by game wardens that inflatible pfd's were only legal if worn.
That is not entirely true. Depends on the type and what the label says on the pfd. Type V inflatibles usually have to worn. Other types may not depending on what the label says. KDWPT maintained the position that all inflatibles had to be worn to be approved, until I sent them a picture of the label on one of the inflatible pfd's that I have. That pfd is an inflatible type III and came directly from KDWPT and clearly states that it only has to be worn when on uninspected commercial vessels.
Hopefully KDWPT will use their website to clarify which inflatible pfd's are approved only when worn and those that don't have to be worn.
In the meantime, read the label on your inflatible pfd.

    Default

I have a stearns belt inflatable PFD. We were checked opening day of teal season last year and I was told exactly the same thing, that it doesn't count unless it is worn.
