Gill will give it his best shot for you guys. Dr. Tom schooled this youngster well. Take a look at the Texas guys he recruited to play for him in Buffalo. He is a class act and has a good offensive mindset. It is very possible that he could bring a Big Twelve North championship to you. Appreciate him while you can. My prediction is that when Jim Tressle retires, we will be saying goodbye to Polini and hello Turner Gill. You never know in the coaching world but I wouldn't be shocked to see this happen in the future. If I were bettin, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tressle go in the next five years. That should be about as long as Rich Rodriqez will need to unseat him. For the record, I like Texas in the championship game over Alabama. I think Texas is a better team than their two close wins shows. I look for Texas to be able to lite up the Alabama secondary, Alabama doesn't have the defensive line that Oklahoma and Nebraska were able to pose to Texas. Alabama has a great defense that is predicated on speed. I think the Texas offense can match up with that speed. Hope I'm not wrong. Go Big Twelve!!!!!!!!

As a KSU grad, this hire doesn't scare me at all, his coordinators do though. Snyder and Bo-Peep will make Gill look like a bcs rookie. Congrats sweet lew, you just hired your very own Ron Prince

Speaking of sweet lew, how in the hell did he get a bye week for KU the week before KSU in 2010 and 2011????????? They also got a bye weeks before KSU in 2007 and 2008. Bye weeks before your in-state rival 4 out of 5 years?????? Only in the Big EFFING XII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ron Prince ?!? That's a bold and daring statement. LMAO. Come on Sarge. Now way this hire is that bad. That isn't possible.

Jigger I am with you on Texas. I think they are better than they have played lately. And I can't stand Saban. Go Big 12!!

Couple of thing about Gill that will be interesting to see.
1.He was given a great recomendation from Coach Osborn but was not in consideration for the NU job the same year he won the MAC title. Good enough for KU but not for NU, this is the main one that sticks out to me.
    2. He starts every meeting and practice with prayer. This is not a bad thing by any means, but we will see how that goes. Religion in KS has divided many a groups.
    3. Recruiting, he only wants high moral kids which we all do but in the past at Buffy he has not gotten the elite talent even in his own conference. I personally think you need some nasty boys on a team to be good.
    4. Assistants have more experience than he does and was the 3rd coach offered the job, which I think give him a little advantage and chip on his shoulder.
    5. I don't don't think he is even close to the next Ron Prince. Ron's big problem was he would not surround himself with other good coaches and that ended up being his biggest down fall. Gill has done just the opposite. Big plus on his end.

Only time will tell but should be interesting. Not a homerun of a hire but a solid single with the coaches he has brought in so far.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

Baller comes back a swinging, huh....Nice one BA. Mizzou sucks..Go to the Big 10 and maybe you will be able to win something.

SD---Some good points there. In regards to Osborn I think he had no other choice but to hire Pelini....Everyone wanted him and I think Osborn had to do it.

The prayer thing I do not believe has anything to do with KS. We have only a small % of KS kids on our team. It will depend on the kids he brings in whether or not it is an issue. Since he is upfront about it I do not think it will be an issue.

With recrutiing I think you have a point you need some nasty kids in there to be good. But that does not mean they have to go out and beat people up, get DUI's etc. A good kid with high morals can get downright nasty in a game and put you on your butt. But they do not need all mister nice guys.

The assistants are a big key here I think. Got 2 top coordinators and today it sounds like he has hired one of the top recruiters in the country from Illinois. He was named a top 30 recruiter by sporting news and has put several players in teh NFL. The icing on the cake was that he is familiar with KU as he was on Mason's staff in the early 90's.

Ready for the season to begin so we can see what this program is going to be all about.
