Better watch them obessions or you will have my type problem and it's pretty bad, LOL!

Okay here is what I see and you can take this and a dime to the bank and have a dime, LOL!

That last one has too many things going on. I wouldn't put palmered hackle on and then side feather over that. One or the other is way enough. Also can't see well enough what is under. Really I feel it would be better without the side feathers as then you can see what you have underneath it all.

Maybe in place of palmered hackle you could do a collar with hackle?

Anyway just keep trying and find what you like best and the fish like and then you have something. Sometime simple is better.

The weave/crochet will come along with a little practice, will be a good idea to keep a record though of even the worst ones. I wish I did to see what I did and keep track of my progress.

I like most of them, really like the bottom one and third one. I have always liked palmered hackle tying and need to do more of it myself.

As far as critique, I agree that feather over palmer is a little much and a hackle collar would really make those feather pattern full without being too busy in one area. I think the tie off is too large and takes away from some of them but that is just my preference. Might be a good fish catcher that way. The top picture, the one with the side winds looks good but don't worry about tying chenille over it. It will look better once you get them tied in right at the head. It takes a little finesse to get it right but strip a little of the feather that is gonna be tied in and try to match them as far as the same bend and side of feather that is up. Getting them matched up will help with a proper fall and not a whirl wind action that might give it an unnatural action.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Dang I must have missed this thread earlier. Johnny Come Lately as usual :D.

Yeah I'd say there is a lot going on with your jigs. Lot of materials and lots of colors, but that's your style man. All of your jigs that I have seen use a lot of different types of materials and are of very different styles and I don't think that is a bad thing at all. You have introduced me personally to patterns, materials, and sources of materials that I would have otherwise not cosidered (cat toys :D:D).

As far as using a lot of materials goes on jigs, under water, particularly if fished steady under a bobber, the materials tend to loosen up and spread out from each other. You never know if you got a good idea until you try it out. That was one thing that I liked about the Devil's Ridin Horses you submitted to a previous swap. That was one of the craziest jigs I had seen in a while, but the gills like it and they are in my jig box today and are going back in the water tomorrow.

All that to say, I like those jigs. My favorite ones are the one with the green head and the one with the Suzy feathers. And if they were mixed in a tall heap of other jigs I could point each of them out as Grubfarmers .

    Good ties in my opinion.

"Try you tube Mike" But maybe i can help for tonight" Start by tying in your narrow end of the hackle so that the widest end lays across the back of your hook shank"widest end above the head of your jig head then tie in the chenille ,wrap and tie it off"then just barber poll your chenille back to the head of the jig tie it off you should get close enough to give ya an idea what i mean"But try palmered hackle fly tying as key words for "you tube"they are much more informative for ya buddy"I got the happy pills work'n on my head from my toof ache tonight"he"he" Look for your new custom chenille in the mail Tomorrow Or Sat. at the very latest Chief:D"Til then Tight Lines buddy

    Flat Fish"
Yeah guess I'm The bone w/ the most"he"he"Thanks buddy"
