Question Question for all you "jigheads"

A few years ago there was a place in Appleton, Wisconsin that carried
powder paint. It was called the Sportsman (the business, not the paint).
The name of the paint was Granite Dust.
At that time I worked part time in a tackle shop, and a rep brought in some
samples. The item didn't sell because no one had heard of it. We finally wound up deeply discounting what we had left. I bought all of it and still
have some left. They had some absolutely fantastic colors (transparent, flakes, glitters and etc.) They were quarantees for Crappie and also Walleye.
My question is: what happened to them? Are they still in business or did they
sell to another company? I've googled them and came up with nothing.
Their colors made Pro Tec look like muddy water!!

Pro Tech has quite a few colors, some granite looking ones too now so it might be in there. As for finding the color, there are lots of suppliers but I have not found Granite Dust anywhere. Lots of textured ones that look like granite, marble, slate, etc. but not that specific one.

    Glitter PP

    Textured PP

Any of those come close? Maybe a picture of what you have might help someone to match it with a different name.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Granite Dust is out of business or so I'm told. I'm glad you had success with it because nearly everyone I talked to thought it was junk. I also hated using it and swore off of powder because of it. I'm just now getting back into powder after well over 10-15 years of vinyl usage.

Haven't checked out Rosey's yet but will be. I did buy some stuff from Columbia Coatings and their colors look awesome on their site. Haven't tried them out yet. You might also want to look for Herbie's Magic Dust. They are another powder manufacturer aimed at the tackle industry.

As far as Pro-tecs colors looking bad.... They look great to me. The pictures on the internet don't do them justice. Even on their own website. Best representations of the true colors I've found are on the TJ's tackle site. Others have verified that his pics are the most true to actual appearance

I have used several colors of Herbie's Magic Dust and so far I have been happy with the results with the colors I have selected. Color selection is very limited on Herbie's but I will say most of the basic and most used colors are available, service is pretty quick not super fast but does not leave you hanging for weeks and does not charge an arm and leg for shipping either. Just my opinion
