    Default Nice work!

You guys on this forum do some really great jigs!!!
The question I have is, being a rod builder, how do you decide what
to keep and what to sell? When I finish a custom rod, I look at it,
think damn that's nice, pretty or whatever too nice to sell. That is why
I currently have over 300 rods in my basement besides the 18 I use
myself and the 12 wifey has. I realize you have less money invested in
one jig than one rod, but still.........................................

I like AC/DC and Rumrunner. Like like good ones for here.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

These just get tossed in to my jig box. I then post the picture on my website and if it sells I look at the pic to remember what I did. I bet Skips boxes are over flowing with jigs and he doesn't sell every jig he designs either

If you only knew, LOL! It gets so bad I have a lot of little plastic bags full of jigs to try that I keep in a storage box (not a jig box) of sorts I keep under my console. I did this because anything I put into a box may not see the light of day again and if I want it I may not be able to find it.

    It is really not good,

LMAO, and I thought I had a lot of gear before. Thankfully I have a lot of stuff but a lot of different stuff, not hundreds of the same thing, except hooks of course.

I am getting there on my jig collection though. Having 11 different species to target with jigs and the collection starts to get large. But still I have a lot of different sizes and colors and such. Not too many of any one style or size.

As for deciding which ones I sell and which we keep when it comes to jigs and such. I will bet that the best are in some one else's hands and our miscues and odd balls all make it to the tackle box and not for sale. I know that it is that way for me. I keep the worst spinners, worst jig ties and most awful paint jobs for myself when I sell anything. Rarely do i ever get to keep the "best" for my own use. I catch more fish on the odd balls than the "sellers" but some of them would never be bought and if I sent them to someone they may never buy from me again unless it was a freebie.

I doubt that little box stays full long with all the kids you work with, but it's okay we won't tell :D:D:D

Me thinks all my jigs are flub-ups, some just more so than others - the more so's I keep and use.
