    Not really a good comparison. I have found that sometimes crappie will bite minnows and not jigs, jigs but not minnows and tied jigs and not tubes and the other way around. I always have them all on hand. You just never know.

    Skip, this is a jig tying and MAKING FORUM. Not just tying. And it's a crappie board.

    I have held off commenting on this thread, but feel it is a good time to say something.

    Don't know for sure, but am thinking you are a new jig tier and if so you shouldn't be worried about floss at all yet. Really, learn the basics first with a regular jig and then if you still want to go more advanced then do so.

    Floss is a shiny thread type material in fly tying that mainly covers the hook with a nice shinny coating and jigs usually would use chenille or it is a thread neck jig and neither really need floss. It is more for tiny flies and adds color and flash like covering.

    Just my opinion,
