    Default Bulk Jig hook ??

Okay guys I've never used Matzuo hooks before but have been offered 3 box's of 1000. 2 box's size 2, 1 box size 1. He's offered them at $30 a thousand. They are the regular 90 degree bend hooks not sickles.

If I go to Capt Hooks I can get the Matz for $31.75 and the Mustads are cheaper as are the VMC's both which are good hooks and I've never had a problem with them.

    What ya think guys???

Coupla years back got #4 brz & red + #8 brz Matzuo round bends - the #8s were unbelievable trash & I returned em. After going thru a few 100 #4s realized they were too soft for my liking and the remainder ended up on eBay. Points were sharp tho, like Sickles. But, maybe the wire strength has improved since then since recent Sickles appear to be tempered harder.

I think id only try the matzuo sickles espically in those larger sizes you listed.

fatman...I bought a thousand Matzu regular bend red hooks off ebay. When they arrived I noticed the section from the eye to the first bend was to short to fit in a jig mold. Just beware of that....

What color are the hooks? If they are bronze I'd stick with the mustad, but if they or red or black chrome matzuo hooks then I'd get them.See if you can't get them for $25.Maybe save a few bucks for more tying materials. lol

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'm gonna stick with my old Mustad's and maybe buy a few hundred red sickles to try out.

I will say that the #1 & #2 Sickles are pretty darn big for me, but I do have some for guys that just want a really big hook and for some bass guys. They are a bit long too when compared to the #4. I like #4 much better even with the problems I have at times. I don't get as many open eyes as I use to, but I did break my first 4 of them tying in Jan this year. I do like the black ones best.

Keep in mind I was one of the very early users of the sickle as I started tying them in about April 2006.
