I took a break from fly tying and tried a few jigs. I know they're not pretty, but I think they'll catch fish? CC is definately welcome. I started tying the tails a little thin and short but when I looked at real road runners they're pretty heavy on the tail. I like the cleaner profile of the ultra chenille but I don't know if the fish will like it. Any way, let me know what you guys think.

they look good
The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
Nice
Good lookin' baits
Nice looking baits with colors you don't usuall see with the real road runners.
Very nice baits. I just ordered a couple of pony head molds to try out. What size are the heads on the ones you made, and what size are the indiana blades ? Maybe someone here can direct me to a listing of the appropriate size blade per the size of the road runner head?

First nice jigs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hoosier the blade size and crane swivel size is on the inside of the mold. But that is just a span to go by you can try all different combo's of blades when you make your own.

Thanks Fatman. I just ordered the multi sized barbless and barbed molds today...but couldn't find any schedule or listing anywhere on what blade sizes to order. I didn't know they were listed on the mold. Truthfully have never used a pony jig... have made beetle spin type jigs and have some blades / split rings on hand...but I think they are colorado blades. Will colorado blades work ok? I am just making for my own amusement and testing. Seems a lot of guys use these on crappie.

colorado's will work fine if that's what you have. Indianna are what alot of guys like and I've even used some french style blades. After you get the molds and you start make sure that the crane swivel fits in it's slot or you can get alot of flashing on your jig which has to be trimmed.
Once you try it let us know of any problems and we'll help you out.
