It only seems to happen to chart heads that I am about to show you, but darn when I put a clear coat over eyes on chart heads it changes the color. That peeves me big time so I am not going to use the acrylic paint for eyes on my Roadrunner any longer. Since it's only black I am just going to use the black vinyl. Even though I would like to coat over that too. Just look at what is did on all except 2 of them.

I like the look of the black jigs, I will make some for myself. Did you use the turkey feather I sent you? Wondering if you ever use feathers from local birds, seen the feathers of a cardinal something had eated, thought later wish I pickup some the bird feathers.
Thanks and I made these for my neighbor as he say some I made for another customer that were the same except for they had Fl orange thread and gold flash. See pick below.
I have used some of the turkey feathers, but mostly on flies so far.
Be careful as to what kind of feathers you pick up and make sure they are not like Eagle feathers as very few people even have the legal right to pick them up off the ground.
I will use a lot of different feathers and have even bought skins of some, like Starling, Hungarian Partridge, Pheasant, and Chuckar Partridge too. Most of these have great soft hackle for flies and jigs as a collar.

Skip, all I have ever used is the vinyl paint for eyes.Bad part about the vinyl paint is the smell.Area you work in needs good ventilation. I bake at lower temps because in past the eyes have run to the nose.I have never tried to clear coat the eyes, seems to work fine without the clear coat.If you clear coat let me know how it turns out.
Skip you may try using the water base from CSI it hasnt got the smell of Vinyl and holds just as well, also you use the clear and wont have any discolorations, works well for me.just my 2 cents
I have the vinyl already, but don't use it as much as powder since they both have their draw backs I mostly use the powder for my heads. Roadrunner heads sometimes I use the vinyl because of the colors and the hassle of taking the blade and split ring off to powder paint and then you have to cover the swivel with something to paint with out getting any on that.
Anyway I only use the vinyl eyes in black and any two color eyes I just do the acrylic thing, but then you still have the issue of clear over them and a couple of color don't do as well as most.
As for the smell I have got use to that and I know it's not a good thing, but several other things I use also have a similar problem. Mostly I was just peeved (have to say this nice) that the Sally's does that to the FL Chart and it's a convenient way to clear coat. The only other colors it does bad things with I think is FL Yellow (the Yellow Chart) and that just puts the color on the polish brush and if you don't clean that off soon the bottle will not be as clear any more.
Anyway thanks for listening and also for the opinions as I always seem to take something away from this site when enough people reply with thoughts.
Thanks,

Would the two part clear coat epoxy from Jann's work. I know it's an extra step but I've never had eyes run when using it on the testor's paint.

I wonder what this would do for ya', Skip.
