    Default Hackle plier recommendations

I broke, (well they broke while not in use but were really old), them and now I need a new pair. I hate the all metal ones as they never hold on long enough but am open to them if a good pair will work as well as my padded ones I had before.

What does everyone recommend and where can I get them?
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I use Griffin Rotating type and they are not the most expensive nor the cheap ones. I had a pair that were rotating that came in a kit the broke in short order and not so they could be fixed either.

    I like these pretty well.

Here is a link with pics and you can buy them from this place as well. If you look around this shop has more than any other on line fly shop I have seen I think.

The best and cheapest hackle pliers come from Radio Shack!!!!!!! They work great and come in a pair!!!!!!!!

    Mini Hook Clips - RadioShack.com

Lot's of fly tyers also use them for taking pictures so the fly looks suspended. When not using the above I have some old Thompsons that I got in a batch of stuff off of ebay.

Have some of them too and I don't remember paying that much for them. They do work, but I like mine better. I still have several of the kind like you show here. Just looked them up and they are about $2 each so I guess Radio Shack is less, LOL!

Skip, the regular ones remind me of the ones I used to have. Got them too in an old Ebay auction with a bunch of other stuff. They just up and broke one night after using them.
I like the idea of a rotating one too, would make it easier when I do my hackle jigs and am using more than 1 color.

I do like those ones from Radio shack and gives me the option of getting them local. No fly tying shops here, not to mention not much else here. I have used them before for wire testing and connecting small wires to small components. I could use them for that now with all the little things I need to fix that my kids have dewired. lol.
