So is the whole purpose to making the body short so that you can have a long tail that isn't too far past the barb?
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Some prefer the short bodies and some like myself like them long.I'm going to tie some shorter bodies and try them this year. When their looking fastball throw them a curve.Nice looking jigs, Fish.

Nice head paint job, Fish 4 All. The embroidery thread has a nice sheen to it. I kinda like 78mudbug's shorter wrap on this type of jig for more body action . A seal coat, maybe clear glitter nail polish over wraps & head would add some flash, bind the wrap to the head, and give a nice finished appearance.

78mudbug, is there a difference between your wife's high quality nail polish and the cheap drugstore variety?

The clear coat will be my next endeavor. Got a lot to learn but I think I am on my way to converting from a bait fisherman for crappie and panfish to a jig fisherman. Has been quite the challenge to convert from steelhead jig tying to crappie and panfish.

As for quality nail polish there can be a huge difference but it depends on the brand sometimes. My wife sells AVON and she has seen a big difference between their least expensive and some of the more expensive ones. But some of the more expensive ones were really bad. Just have to find what works best for the person sometimes.

Fish4All, I like the colors of the black/char/orange jig.
