Just another 2 cents worth to this discussion ... attached photo .. at bottom is a Paul Ament Mold I purchased in the early 60's (I think 62) Made some modification to it .. had a production mold made of the 1/4 oz .... that is the one I sold to Tom Mann ... the mold at the top is a custom production mold I had made later on by Paul (late 60's) ... 2 of the lures from this mold are shown below it ... I have caught a lot of small Bass and this past year had a real good year with Redfish .. "Chubs" (a type of warmouth) really like it as have some bluegill & croakers ... have not worked it in crappie waters lately.
So the Pony -- Horses Head has been around before I purchased the mold in the early 60's.
