    Default fluid bed problem

I build a fluid bed as per instructed, all I get is a little bit of air coming up around the outside edges of the F B no bubble, just dust, I used a coffee filter for the screen at the bottom of the cup, the more air, the more dust no bubble what kind of media are we suppose to have as a filter, I've reduce the size from 3 inch to a two inch same thing, what I'm I doing wrong.

hmmmm. I use the coffee filter and have no problem. My bed and cups are 4in. Maybe a bigger airpump is needed. I only put about a 1/4 inch of powderpaint into the cup

Doc, your instruction say to use 3 inch Sch 40 PVC pipe I bought a 40 gallon aerator, took it back and got 100 gallon aerator thinking that was my problem also , I've tried two different brands of filters still no bubble just dust, I even got a reducer 3x2 with 2 inch cups still not happy with it, the only thing I know to do now is do what Ifish suggested buy the cups, but I'm not sure that will work ,and waste some more money "confused".

my mistake. Guess I did use 3 in pvc.. I got that out line from Cadman. Maybe he can help. I wish I could tell you more other than mine works. Maybe use cheesecloth? for the filter on the bottom?
Lets hope someone else will chime in on your problem. Do you start with the valve all the way closed and then start to open it slowly? When I first turned mine on the valve was open almost all the way and I got alot of dust. I then cranked it down until it was off and then slowly opened it up

I know they are not cheap to buy, but I also have a couple that are home made and they just don't work as well as my store bought one and that is a fact. I am sure someone has one that does as well, but mine don't. They do work OK, but I prefer my bought one by far.

I guess I built mine good. Because mine works just fine. The powder paint just rools in it. Sort of like molten lava. I have had no problem with it.
And it only cost me around 20 bucks for everything

Well I bought mine from the people that make Pro-Tec, but you can get the same one from Welcome to TJ's Tackle and for less cost.

I don't think he was selling them when I got mine, but I have added a lot of cups since then and all came from TJ's.
