Those feathers look great. The barring on these remind me of a teal flank feather. These will make some excellent jigs.I like the feathers that are shaped like a willowleaf blade. If you need any suggestions on tying with duck feathers I have a few I would share with you.I love tying with duck feathers and that's what I made for jig swap #5.

Ahh, pintail feathers. Very nice buddy. Those are gonna be some Cadillac jigs for sure. Post em up here when you get a couple tied.

You shoot that sprig over on Old Hickory? Now's about the time we should be seeing them down this way.

Just a quick tip for you if those are fresh plucked feathers you might want to treat them by putting them in borax!!!! You definately don't want any bug infestations in your tying materials, it can be costly!!!!!

If theres any blood on them wash them in liquid dish detergent to wash the blood out and if you want them dried real quick you can cut a hole in a paper bag to fit a hair dryer head and fold the bag over and hold it shut and blow them dry and the closed bag keeps them from being all over the house. OR clean them and then put them in an airtight container covered by borax and let dry completely!!!

Being a fly tyer I've learned the hard way. It's not worth losing your materials by not taking care of fresh feathers or fur.

Most ever critter's hair, feathers, what ever even after drying the skins I always put quarantine them for a while. I put them in the freezer for several days to a couple weeks and then I take them out leaving them out in the garage for a couple days to thaw and hatch any eggs that may still be there and then I put them back in the freezer for a few days before they even enter my house. When they do they will also find I have moth crystals in zip lock bags in ever drawer, bucket, what ever I have things stored in.

Bugs will turn you hair and feathers into dust and that can be costly if you have a lot of stuff.

Example I had a few people giving me duck feathers 2 years ago and I still have them in a separate plastic 5 gallon bucket under my desk with moth crystals.
