    Default Why use sickle hooks?

What is the advantage to using the sickle hook over other styles?

They are sharper and have a bigger gap between the hook point and the shank. They also IMHO make for a better hook up with the fish. Usually in the roof of their mouth right where you want it.

we pour are own jigs and we pour down to 1/32.It seem that the hooks are getting hard to find barlows is out right now they said it'll be a month or so be for they get any in .One other thing to think about is using a football head instead of the round head IMO you have fewer snags the shape of the head keeps the hook up right at all times

I use sickles at my customers request, however they have there good points ben my exsperience not to in heavy cover if your heavy handed meaning if you are a fast mover if you like to really work your jig and take the suttle steps it works fur sure. Great for open water type and when they get it in them they get it deep! But all in all they work the whole idea is to get the fish to livewell, works for me. There made by Matzuo in few sizes and are available in Red or Bronze or Gold or even Nickle Black kinda silverish. For those jig lovers that make there own you can purchase these at barlowes in richardson and you want have to buy so many like we do! Hope this helps

If you want to know how to tie and what to use to start PM me and ill tell you how to do it were it wont cost you so much and can tie a quality jig!
