Well I have used a lot of different hooks and the sickle is the sharpest by far. I don't pretend I use the sharpest ones but even when my friends insisted on Gamu's or Owners and I messed with them the sickles are a lot sharper. It is the only hook I have ever had actually grab ahold of my skin without any penetration and hold on at a 90 degree angle. All I did was touch it and lift my finger out of the bag. If it grabs my finger that easily imagine what it will do on a hook set.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I assume that the hook shape with wide gap makes for improved hookup and deeper penetration. Are all Matzuo hooks that sharp or is it something special with this hook? Thanks for the info. I will be checking these out.
