Strung hackle comes from saddles - it's usually the inferior webby grade that is not usable for dry fly techniques. However, saddle hackle has created a niche for itself for salt water flies, some freshwater patterns, and – a lot of jig patterns.
The duck and Guinea feathers are better suited for collaring as opposed to palmmering.
FM - Like the Whiting and Keough also - lot cheaper buying the patches...
