Usually when I buy chenille I get it in either the 72yd or 144yd skeins. If you've ever gotten a skein you'll know that it's tightly wound and twisted and rolled into itself. Something which I don't like leaving it in..... so what I do is unravel it and wrap the chenille on what I call simply a 'chenille holder'.
You can get these next to nothing..... correction.... you can get these things for NOTHING!! Next time you're in Wal-Mart or a fabric store, drop by where they have the fabrics and lace. Ask the clerks there to save the plastic lace/trim holders. Then drop by each week or so and pick them up! They're going to throw these away so tell them you can put it to excellent use.
Now when you have your holders, just wrap the chenille onto it and you have a convent tool to hold your chenille and keep it neat and accessible!!!
Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:
Enjoy!!

Excellent tip.
awmiller,
Where to you buy your chenille, I like the colors that you posted...sweet. Thanks for the tip will put it to good use..
I get my stock from a couple of folks here at CC but also at Barlow's Tackle Shop (barlowstackle.com).
Have you ever used the type that they have in skeins at Hobby lobby?
I meant the chenille.
I've tried a couple but have opted to go for those that I can get from good tackle shops...
