    Default ways to paint jigheads?

I am fairly new to painting jigheads. My question is how do you guys paint yours? I would just heat it up and dip the jig into the powdermix, I don't prefer this because the paint does not melt evenly and it seems that there is to much paint on the jig. Also what is your favorite colors for panfish, and what paint brands do you prefer.

A lot of us use powder paint. If it's not melting even increase the heat in that area. As for to much paint you need to fluff the paint and then just dip in and right out I go side to side a little then pull it out. But that's only how I do it there are some master powder painters out here.

    Lostfisher1,
Welcome to C.com . There are a lot of ways to put color on jig heads and here is a good tutorial. Just click powder paint in the left column and click on the how to video instruction. Benjamin is real helpful as a few others on this site.

    Lost,

One time dipping of powder paint does not guarantee perfection I've been doing it for 3 years and I still get bubbles. Heat them more and swish in the paint, and like has been stated make sure to stir up the powder first.

If you are painting jigs that are smaller than 1/32 – use fingernail polish or powder paint. FP has lots of colors, cheap, no clean up, dries real quick, and a lot of over coats. Down side - smells bad and you look funny buying it. I use both FP and PP for 1/64 and 1/32.

TJ’s videos explain a lot. The trick is to get a thin coat of PP on your jig. Pretty much agree with everyone else; you have to have light fluffy paint (shake your securely closed jar) before you dip the sufficiently heated jig into it. A good investment for dipping is a fluid bed.
