Hi Lynda Jean
Thnx for the interest in the “hard body” jig. It’s a very easy jig to tie.
Materials;
1/32 #8 VMC hook roundhead jig
3/0 flat wax (for the red head white body a Danville fluorescent white was used)
Marabou tail (fluorescent white)
Crystal flash and red fluorescent thread or yarn
Fingernail polish (clear and clear with glitter)
First tie in the crystal flash and the red fluorescent thread or yarn
Add the marabou tail
Build up your body by wrapping up and down the body. (I stop after a couple of wraps to spin my bobbin to take the twist out and have the thread lay flat – easier to control the body shape).
Once you have built the shape you want – tie off and clear coat with fresh fingernail polish (or thinned down to penetrate the threads).
Do another coat with glitter (this pattern uses extra fine fire opal)
I like to overcoat with 2 coats of chip protector. Adds depth and protection
Hope that helps.
If you want to see one, PM your snail mail.
