Average Time!!

Excluding the painting of the jig head what is your average time for tying a crappie jig?

Depends on size, if I have to change colors, ect. The tying is the quickest part of doing an order, just getting setup with the thread, chenille, and marabou you need takes up the most time. At least for me.

never timed it, and a hair jig takes me longer than a marabou and chenille jig. ok, probably five minutes, maybe a little longer with kiptail hair. the thing is, I can tie them faster, but the quality suffers, and if that happens, I won't feel like using it. can only tie about six at a time, then gotta walk away from it for a while. I'm sure a few of these pro's on this site can do alot better, but I don't do anything fast, and it's so enjoyable at a slower pace too. If you are using a tad of head cement here or there to help lock the materials in, then that adds time too.

I've never timed myself with jigs or flies. Takes the fun out of it. One thing I will do is lay out materials for at least 6 of what I want to tie and everything else stays off the tyin table. If you make your jigs durable they'll last through a bunch of fish. Just enjoy.
