Default Why Tie Only a Jig Head?

When fishing for crappie "why do most tie only jig heads?". If the jig head the most popular type of hook to use? What makes the Lead Jig Head the go to bait? When I go perch fishing, I have been using a #6 Aberdeen gold jig hook bent at a 90 (without the lead) or I use a just straight. Both hooks are used with some split shots or a bell weight attached above or below the hook depending on the presentation. I find tying to just the hook allows the hook to just float around?

I use the jig head because it allows the presentation to be horizontal as well as a little more stable in the water than just a hook alone.

In Perch fishing I use a type of drop shot with the single hook. Tie a palamor knot and then bring the tag end back through the eye. This will make the hook stand out at 90 degrees from the main line.

I think that can be deadly. For the float and fly, I think it's much better than using a regular jig head. I like the "fly" to have as little weight attached to it as possible. You get a much more seductive drop that way.

I also tie these to use on a Ky rig above the weight. And they also works if you use one above a standard jig.
Also the below has been out catching live crawfish for white bass. Fishing them on 4 and 6 lb test line and a light weight about a foot in front of them.Fished on the bottom slow.
Got A guy buying them. And he is paying $1 each. LOL But 1" t0 2" crawfish here are 15 cents each. So he is saving $$.
