Wishin' I Was Fishin'
Here are a few jigs I'm about to send out to shipahoy41.
It becomes addictive when the largest crappies youve ever caught come off of your own jigs. I caught a 16"er last year that came off of a 1/64th plain round head, orange chenelle, chartruse yellow marabou tail that I was using just for kicks and because Id lost every other jig I had in my favorite color that day. Caught a 16"er friday on a plain head, black chenelle and black marabou tail. Ive used 100's of other kinds of jigs but my two largest have been on my own stuff. PRIDE. Don't stop. You'll learn what works for you and what doesn't. Sometime's what you like changes. I used to love all white or red chenellle and white body and I bet I haven't caught half a dozen on those colors in the past year. Now red and chartruse (green or yellow) seems to work well for me or a white head red chenelle and chartruse body works well for me. One thing I would advise, if you're trying new colors, tie three of them. Sometimes Ill try a new color and break off, tie on and catch a few and break off and tie on again and catch some more. I'm a slacker and generally only have 6-8 of my favorite colors with me and a few misc colors at any given trip, and the day I caught the 16"er on the orange and yellow, I was catching on red chenelle and yellow tail and lost all 7 that I had with me. Sorry for the rambling lol
either of two ways, some very serious in-house counciling or I die, which ever comes first. just my 2 pennies

Sticksteer, I've got it bad also. Up until today I didn't have any idea what to do with all I've tied and all I plan to tie. I mean, I do plan to fish with them but I usually don't lose too many. So what to do with all them jigs. I found out today one thing they are good for besides catching fish, catching information. I took the boat out on an exploratory trip into some unknown places. Sure am glad for GPS or I'd still be running around in circles in the swamp. Anyway, I met up with another fisherman and made it a point to stop and talk to him, he seemed like a good of boy. After a few cautious words from him about fishing in this area, I reached down and grabbed my jig box and said while I'm stopped I think I try another color. Well he looked to see what I was tying on. I grabbed a couple of different colors and threw them to him and said to try these on me, I tie them myself. That really impressed him and broke the ice. He spilled the beans about the whole area. I learned more in 15 minutes of BS'ing than I could have learned in a year of going at it on my own. So you see, another reason to tie, barter.
