has anyone tried to tie on a stand out hook, i tied three and they dont look to bad for a beginner.

Last year I asked crappieday to make a jig for me using the stand out hook. In principle the idea was good, but the shank of the hook was not long enough. Once a lead head was poured on the stand out hook there just wasn't much of a hook left. If they ever come up with a longer shank stand out hook that would be the ticket.
