I tie it on a coffee stirrer straw and then slide it onto my main line. The way I tie it, it stays put so I know exactly what level my jig is riding. It takes ten seconds to tie so if I need a drastic change, I'll retie it. Usually I fish in 10-12 feet of water. I set the stop knot at about 3 feet. Crappies are always looking up to feed and that is a great starting point to start fishing at. You DO NOT want to be fishing below them.Originally Posted by Buckeye Mike
If you are fishing deeper water, set your stop at about 1/3 of the water column as a general rule. That is just my 2 cents worth.
