They're called sickle hooks and are made by Matzuo. Lots of folks here make them, I'll be ordering some GrouseFly soon.

Not bad at all. Man that has got to be some big hook though huh? I have never seen a Sickle over a #4. Not that they don't exist, it's just that I have not see any.

I think that big hook is making your body look a tad long, but you jigs look fine! I hope you paint is easy to do because I really don't think two tone paint is really going to help catch fish. Maybe fishermen, but I wouldn't think fish. I mean look at how may use unpainted heads. I know when the crappie start to eat through the pain and the lead shows through it doesn't make them stop biting that jig.

I am getting some made up with a larger head for the bass guys here on Toledo Bend as a secret weapon for some is what us guides used back in the 70's. When things got tough in the spring it was time to break out the black marabou jigs and put a 4" worm tail or grub also in black to put fish in the boat. Bounce that in and around the grass and the bass were soon to be on the line.

I think it is the hook making it look long Skip. I always tie back to the point of the hook, and it'd be shorter if it was a smaller hook. Those are #2 1/16th ozs, I also have #1s 1/8th oz heads.

After I sell a few of what I have, I'm gonna get some smaller ones, but only a size or two smaller. From what I've seen they make them up to 3/0 I believe. That's awful big, but I know some guys who use them in hand poured bass pig n jigs.

Anyway, thanks for the comments. The paint takes a little bit longer, but if that's what folks want I can do it. It does make a pretty jig though. :D I know what you're saying though, I grew up using unpainted heads and did just fine.

I feel sure you are right about the hooks. I use a lot of #4 hooks. I also like the #6 & #8 especially if I am looking for a smaller profile on a day that they are picky.

I love fishing the black marabou on a 1/8 or 1/4 for bass. Have some coming with a #1 Sickle hooks for the bass guys. I just make them thread neck style though.

    Anyway nice job!

Be sure to post some pics. Can always use stuff to add to the bass boxes. Before I moved I had a great bass pond 2 minutes walking from my front door. Privately owned. Caught my 10 1/2 pounder outta there. 99% of them are 1 pounders though, no one took any out of there at all for 15+ years. I took about 20 a month and fried them up to help out the pond. After a few months I could already tell they were healthier fish.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Best looking jigs I've seen on this site. Chenille wraps are tight and even, body and tail are perfectly proportioned. It's a winner!

I use less materials like stated,to much and the crappie won't touch it because they can tell its not real,I use colors that match the food they are hitting or look like what they are eating under water, only bright color I use is chartruese and some mylar in silver but sparingly at the, lots of clear stuff which looks more like minnows.shipahoy41 is right try less.
