Being around it on a long cook isn't too bad. Can't taste the smoke until you eat some a few days later.

They used to make an elongated sinker that had rubber inside to help it hold the line better. Haven't seen any in years. I looked them up. Rubber core sinkers. Still available

I smelled those ribs all the way down in Fairfield Alabama. I sent a smoke signal "Are they done yet?" but I guess the smoke signal got wafted in the winds. Good job on those ribs. 800 racks is just awesome.

I used to use them all the time, but IMHO that rubber end will cause too much drag when trolling with them. Dono :dono

I had not used them. Too much drag would certainly be bad while trolling

Yes I remember those sinkers. Like previously said, you do not see them much anymore, however those are way to big for what I use.

Might try some of these weight stops by 6the sense. Work great. Use whatever size weight you want and put one of these stops on bottom of weight and one on top. Could even hold split shot if you like.

I use these though. Come in various sizes from real small to big. Palomar knot tied on top to main line and then another palomar knot on bottom of it with line to a jig. Never have problems.
