I just read my question and I worded it completely incorrectly. What I meant to ask... When the fish go deeper, do you see the size of your jigs going up?

Generally when they go deep I do use a heavier jig just because I like the feel better and if the wind is blowing much at all, I can't feel a 1/32 Oz jig down 20' enough for my liking. Now this friend I have talked about is going to make me try that using a weight before the jig in water like that to see. I know he killed them the first time he fished here. Clearly it's a great way to catch them after the spawn. I think he found them next to and around a tree laying on the bottom. Talking old tree and just really the trunk which there are tons of trees laying on the bottom here.

For anyone that doesn't know when they built Toledo Bend Reservoir it was a Forrest and they just flooded it with all the trees standing.

Yes or you can keep head small and place weight above. This year I’ve been mostly fishing 1/16oz head with weight above. Years past I didn’t use weight above and went heavier jig.

I fish 1/16 down to about 20 feet then switch to 1/8th or even 1/4 if the wind is blowing especially.

Yep at Woods Res. in Tenn, we were fishing water 80 to 90 feet deep, the trees were over 50 feet tall and still standing in a 60 year old reservoir. That amazes me, but we fished the tree tops 30 feet down from the surface with a splitshot to assist with the depth control. Wonderful mess of fish caught that day.
