I believe in keeping it simple. I tied on the body material, make a head of thread and wrap back to the middle of the body.
I make three turns and then tie on the legs; then wrap back to the head and do a wipe finish.
If I am tying a eight leg pattern I keep the rubber strands together and separate after the lure is finished.
I looks nicer to put the body material over the legs but it is a pain. The fish don't care how you do it as both methods will work.
