What thread to use

I use 210, 140, and 70 denier, depending what I’m doing. Yes, the 70 breaks easy but I take one of my bobbins and have it opened up a little wider with less tension for the small thread. Small jigs with this mostly but some colors make me use this. Peacock blue for one. Most of my crappie jigs I use 140 because it’s easier to hide. I have a habit of over building. Also use 210 on crappie jigs but usually with bigger hooks like #2 or bigger. I’m heavy handed and if I can learn to use 70 denier, you can to when it’s called for. I keep my thread in a Plano tackle box standing up and it works good, keeps any sunlight off of it, and keeps any dust from gathering on it also.

210 flat waxed. Unless you are tying bucktail, in that case a non-waxed thread helps hold the slick hair better.

I tie a lot of hair jigs. Thanks for the advice.

I need to get some 210 waxed for my squirrel tail jigs. I like red and black. Any other recommendations as to color.

If you tie a lot of hair you may want to look at the Fly Master Plus for your tying. Here is a link to Danville color chart. Now if your mostly tying thread neck jigs then I would load up on Red thread!

Maybe I will get a box next order with Danville?

Im using upholstery thread and super glue. I like it because its very strong, cheap and builds up on the hook fastAttachment 365133

I've tied a lot of jigs with upholstery and sewing thread. It for sure works. Just get the nylon like in your picture or the polyester, avoid cotton as it will absorb water and weaken. It's not as pretty as fly tying thread usually, but there's no arguing about its effectiveness.

I'll use the wally world thread too for certain colors. They have a very nice purple. I have broken it several times though so you have to be somewhat gentle compared to 210 which I use in abundance. I have also heard about folks using clear monofilament line but I haven't tried that myself.

Mono is used for tying a good bit. Danville has a good Purple in 210 Fly Master Plus. I sell a good bit of it. Danville and other thread making people also sell mono on thread spools. I use it at times and on some flies it will adding letting color through once the Glue is applied.
