Well I have tied a lot of these over the years, but even though I always wanted to try it, I can't seem to put down my spinning rod in Spring when I should be fishing this with my fly rod! However it just hit me while I was typing this that maybe I could fish it on a spinning rod since I long line anyway in spring, lol!

I do think there is a larger number of flies and jigs that may catch both, but since we don't have any Rainbow Trout here, I am unsure?
