It's pretty simple.The way i do it is after i get the tail material tied on i tie a hackle feather at the base of the tail.
I also tie a piece of small copper wire at the same place i secured the hackle feather.
Tie on the chenille or body material and secure it at the head.Wrap your hackle feather forward evenly and secure it at the head.
Wrap the small copper wire in the opposite direction so it catches the stem of the hackle on each turn.This will help the durability of the jig as the fish bite it.
Once the copper is wrapped forward secure it at the head and whip finish.
One tip is to secure the hackle at the base by the tip so the hackle will be small at the base and get longer as it wraps forward.Hope this helps.
