Man it's a lot easier if you just don't get the head as hot or don't leave it in that long? Maybe both if your getting bullet heads. I use an alcohol burner and have for something like 13-14 years now. I make my dips quick and just long enough to move sideways in the PP, but has to be very quick! I just use a counting method and speed that works for me and all you need to do is figure out how long you need to keep it in the flame so it doesn't melt off the hook and long enough to get it hot enough to paint. I probably don't keep a 1/16 oz head in the flame longer than about 3 seconds, maybe 4. I do turn it over in the flame so both sides get the same treatment and when I dip the head I try to make sire I wiggle to quick sideways as if I don't there are times I don't get enough paint on the head if I don't swish it to the side.
