Default New batch of maribou jigs

The postman delivered a new batch of supplies to my work today and I couldn't wait to try some of them out tonight. These are all 1/16oz #4 Lil Nasty Sickle hooks.

I've been pondering the idea of starting to sell my jigs, so I would welcome all comments about color patterns, size preferences, and what price you think I could get for them, or if you think I am crazy to consider it.

    Thanks in advance.

    PM if you are interested.

Color combos that are a must have IMHO!

    Black and Chart
    Blue and White
    Blue and Chart
    Silver and FL Blue

There are some many good one you can choose all you want, but if you don't have what they want, they will not sell well! You just need a number of basic color combos guys look for! Still your not going to get rich doing this so you better like it a lot, lol!

I Agree with Skip and what he said. The best way to make a little money tying jigs is to start out with a lot of money. Yes, materials will eat you alive while trying to keep all the different materials and colors on all the materials but you can always offer a few colors but that will not keep people coming back to you when they find someone that offers everything they may want.
Looks around some and do a search on the internet for 'jigs for sale'. You will be surprised at all the jigs out there and price ranges. Like many other tyers I am in so deep in materials it's scary to know the money I have tied up. Trade some with friends & family as it's always fun to see what trades you can make.
Think 'real hard' before making the jump. just my .02

Your jigs look very good, nice tying.

Hey Dreamer...Ive started selling mine around here and have actually did decently. However it's been mainly repeat customers and I know eventually they'll have all the ones they want. I still sell a dozen here and there but nowhere near enough to compensate for the amount of material I've bought. I list mine at a $1 each until half dozen. After that start little incremental breaks. I sell a dozen for $10 and most folks like that amount. Sown here at Truman Lake 2 other popular colors are red/char and pink/white. Good luck and don't forget to enjoy yourself.

This just an opinion and take it for what it is worth. I think in the beginning most all of us had the same thoughts...as you improve and your personel touch the jigs will sell. Then comes the real truth...the amount of money you spend on materials will......just get way out of hand...crappie jigs are seasonal a spike in sales once or twice a year then nothing. Wallmart sells them for 0.25 ea. China hard to compete with that. Last and I believe the most important part why did you start tying in the first place....for the pure JOY of tying. When your up at 3 am tying to complete an order or still tying at midnight somehow the fun goes away. Just an old fly tying guy about ready to retire and go fishing!
