Wallmart sells them for 0.25 ea. China hard to compete with that. Last and I believe the most important part why did you start tying in the first place....for the pure JOY of tying. When your up at 3 am tying to complete an order or still tying at midnight somehow the fun goes away. Just an old fly tying guy about ready to retire and go fishing!
Agree with most and especially the taking the fun out of this and that is real! However the one I don't agree with is the part about this being a seasonal spike once per year and then nothing, but it takes a lot of time to change that! I know if you are hard at it for several years and keep going at some point there are enough guys using them that you can get busy all year long. The problem then is there as still not any real money in this and once you loose the fun all is gone IMHO! Don't really want to say all I could say here about this so will stop right here, but I do know the seasonal thing can be beat if one gives up many other things. I just don't know who wants to really do this!

The big thing for me is this for me is a hobby and I do enjoy it, but I also realize thinking of and trying to making money doing any of this is not a great idea!

I used to sell lots mostly to tackle shops locally...$7.50/dozen if they buy 10 or more cards of 12 to normal fishermen $9/dozen for up to 1/16th oz. and increase it fo larger ones

This for me is a hobby and for me that has to have some fun or no use doing it. I sure wouldn't be giving any discounts as I try to make every jig as well as I can in a reasonable amount of time, but I also do not get in a hurry. Use to be able to tie a good many per hour, but I don't try to do that any longer and would just as soon get it right! Really it gets down to I don't want to work and for sure don't want to rush anything! The way I tie if I was doing not to sell it sure wouldn't be for a cheap as your were! Even the most simple jig would be a least a buck and that is really not worth the time it takes to tie them as there is no money in that. That is why if don't have any fun in it, then why do it?
