My grandson showed an interest in learning how to tie (not like I'm proficient yet myself) so we sat down today and I think he did a great job.

That's great Jim. He'll do fine with that jig. Teaching anyone is satisfying, but the young ones are a hoot when you see the light come on.

When he catches a fish on it, he just won't be able to stand it!

Awesome. Years ago, my dad used to tie flies for a steelhead shop. Many nights I remember sitting next to him in the backroom as he cranked out fly after fly. I remember sitting on his lap, putting the bobbin in my hand, and then him putting his hand over mine and helping me go through the motions. We invented a new fly (wet fly) that first night that went on to become our best steelhead fly to date. I've never seen another one before or since that time. By the time I was in sixth grade, I was tying and selling flies. I actually tied flies that year as my science fair project.

Really good job especially on a first one, heck I don't think my first was that nice!
