Interesting for sure. Only thing for me is I don't use a float when trolling so not sure I would ever use that, but will keep it in mind. All my trolling is in spring or fall when they are at a reasonable depth for me. I just control the troll with my trolling motor and go slow using a 1/32 Oz Roadrunner for the most part. I have use a float, but when casting and working it back in, just never have when trolling.
Actually I learned about trolling with my troll motor back in about 1978 one day the wind was very rough and I just got frustrated. Then I just tied on a 1/32 Oz Roadrunner and started drift fishing letting the wind take us. Then we started catching some very nice crappie when the thought hit me, I can do this even if the wind is not blowing and then I could just use my troll motor to take this where ever I wanted. That was the start of what I still do every spring and in the fall just a little deeper, but same bait and same plan.

Thx, guys. Yeah, they aren't mean for trolling. It's a single rod approach. I mostly use them for catfish, but I've caught minnows on these.
I have a few of the floats made by funbun. The largest ones are excellent for catfish. Here is a photo of them. You and also make them in a much smaller size with much smaller corks and swivels for Bream and Crappie. They are great on the Warrior River, Neely Henry and Logan Martin where I fish. I also add one drop of titelok where the swivel touches the stem before wrapping it in flat waxed nylon thread.
