Wanting to tie some willowfly jigs. I pour my own 1/24 jigs. What material would make a good body, tail, and wings. I usually use small plastic grubs but since joining this site I've noticed some of you tie some impressive bugs. Thanks

I use mallard flank feather. Natural feather color with chartreuse head.
I like that bug Fatman, cool tie! Kind of reminds me of one done by Mark. I have always wanted to make a jig like this. Maybe I should just do some flies, lol!

Get some bulldog clips and you can do some of the same thing as the expensive Petitjean tools.
Im not sure how you would translate this to a jig as this is a top water fly and looks to me like a caddis. Maybe a jig tied to represent a different stage in the lifecycle?
I've done renegades and a bunch of other dry fly patterns on jig hooks as well as wet flies and they all seem to work.
You may be surprised by what all will work for crappie. I like to set no limits and explore what ever one thinks up to try. That's all just fun stuff and use things you can't go buy at the store.
