Just got home and had more waiting for me.

I know people like it in cold water, but it is even better as it warms up I think. biggest mistake is tying too much on the hook, I still catch myself doing that as it looks good but doesn't often perform as good as a sparser tie. Tahoe 50, about your kiptail hair slipping out from under the wraps, you can guarantee the hair won't come out, I tie my kiptails with ultra thin mono which stretches a lot while tying and then I trim the hair in front of the wraps with a single edge razor blade using the leadhead as a backstop, don't hit your thread wraps doing this, then I take zap super glue in the thinnest formula and get just a tiny tiny semi droplet on the end of a bodkin and touch it to the hair ends just in front of the thread wraps, be careful tho, too much of a glue drop will soak up under the thread and into the hair wing, now I take and wrap whatever color thread I want over the mono for my color scheme. so it's like this, stretchy mono will hold kiptail all by itself, and any thread will do if you add the super glue trick, if you can't find the zap glue in the thin version I have used locktite brand super glue in the thin version, but the zap is better because it soaks the hair so much easier.

I have found out the hard way that a cheap super glue tends to leave that whitish chalky residue later on after it dries, the better grades don't do this nearly as much and if you use very small amounts you won't get any of that. there is two versions of zap glue, get the very thin stuff, it is thinner than water.
