Nothing wrong with that and to me is much like any thread neck jig some of us tie, but yours builds up the body over a collar. Should be fine, but you can also do the same thing with hair like my little kip tail jigs. Also is the same thing a lot of fly tiers do on some flies, like one of my little hard body ant flies which uses thread for the color of the body and only difference then is the kind of glue used.

On my thread neck jigs I like using Softex in place of fingernail polish as I do like it a lot for that. As for the Mylar tail some here have used that and of course fly tiers do as well.

So bottom line for me is they look fine and should put fish on your box and that is what it's all about! If it make the tier happy then it's all good!
