A picture would be nice with what your trying to copy, but the pics I see on the internet probably is Salt Water Neck Hackle. Salt Water Hackle is longer and usually wider and more webby which mean you have longer barbules. So it you learn how I use my little V's that may be the ticket?? I am sure not positive though. If you got lucky with regular neck hackle and got some that is wide, that would also probably work. Or maybe even some soft hackle as it's wide and more webby too and still the V approach should be good. Look for my videos on the sticky post at the top of the board. I am starting to think the soft hackle may be better if you find the right soft hackle!

You could always try some Gadwall flank feathers. Here is a link to what I am talking about.

Howdy Eddie, You might try some genetic neck hackle (the larger sizes) off a nice long hen neck. Some hen necks have a feather that doesn't have much webbing on the barbs of the hackle yet they are nice and soft. Have fun tying Kevin

Welcome to the site and board!

eddieb I just looked at that color and I don't think you want Grizzly hackle, you just need to use V's from a Black hackle and then a V from a White hackle and tie them in together! Maybe it take 2 Vs of peach to get the amount you want! Stack the V's on top of each other and tie in 2 on each side, with one Black and one White on each side!

Grizzly hackle is going to give you Black and White bands going side to side!

Looks like one white and one black. They palmer them and then tie it down at the head.

Use Hen hackle - it will have the long barbs needed for a rooster tail type spinner. If you're wanting the mix combined and not barred use a black one and a white one and put them back to back and wrap on at the same time, make sure to tie them down well.

Looking at this close-up of the hackle it's actually not white - it's cream

You could get some large golden Badger Hackle and that should give you what you're looking for. If you're after black and white go with a silver badger hackle
