I will be out there for the pink run this year. My brother is in Seattle so we visit him every time they are running. We usually fish buzz bombs but I have caught a few on flies and jigs that I have tied. I would recommend at least a 1/4 ounce head to get some distance and get down in the current. Also I have always used maraboo as it is easier to find the right color pink which is a must and also it pulses like a little squid on the pause and retrieve. Bucktail will work if you can find the right color (bright fuschia pink) I would think a little less hair like everyone is recommending but you may want to have a range of densities as having more hair can slow the drop and keep it in the strike-zone longer. So have some that are really sparse for when the current is ripping so you can cut through and get down a little and then some with bulk for when the tide is changing so you can stay just under the surface with out having to retrieve it too fast.
