skip the picture of your signature what size jig head are you using I do like that pattern. I used to tie up a pattern that was consistent of white marabou yellow and I used a piece of red feather underneath the eye of the hook this was tied not on a regular jig head this was tied on a regular long shank fly hook. it worked extremely well on the surface for crappie.

Bob that is a 1/60 Oz head and a #6 Sickle hook. I made the body using the rope dub method and one of my better examples that I actually tied, LOL! I have not got back to that yet, but am about to do a lot more with that. I just have to even if I just have to shut it down for a bit. I bought that darn DVD probably 5 years ago now or close and still have just piddled with it and not really got into it, but I just have to now, it's time! Probably one of the greatest and coolest tying methods I ever have seen and I just keep putting it off. If I get this down really good there is no limits to what can be done IMHO!

Purely a novice question but if it rides hook up all that flash will be hard to see for a crappie looking up at a bait.
I understand this is a pattern to follow.
Would some flash on the other side make it a better fly?

I am not so sure it rides like you are thinking, but since I have never wet one I can't say for sure. You could always ask the guy who we are follows g his pattern though on FAOL. The eyes are just bead chain so not much weight at all really so guess I may need to wet one when I get the chance.

Oh and forgot to say also the deer hair will have some buoyancy!
