Default Tube Jigs Using Liquid Plastic

Has anyone made thier own tube jigs? I have 55 gallons of the stuff and was wanting some pointers. I already know about the web site: pour your own worms .com but there is nothing on tubes?

I am not sure since I never made any tubes, but I am thinking you need a different kind of mold for tubes. I don't think they are the kind you can just pour like a worm.

I am not much help with this,

    Contact Flatfish46.
He uses injection molding for plastics. If you don't want to go into it that deep maybe you could work a deal with Flatfish on your material and his finished moldings of it.

Dipping tubes is the easiest – pretty much what grub is doing. You can make the cutting knives by taping utility razors together. The dipping rod(s) are easy to make, any metal rod, flat or round.

Injection is another option - initial cost might be prohibitive.

Tackleunderground.com has a bunch of info on pouring plastics – not sure you can get to the tutorials unless you’re a member. There are some good posts on dipping swimbaits...

Tacklemaking.com might have information on dipping tubes.

55 gallon drum should last an awful long time. Make sure you mix it well – you might want to break it down into 5 gallon buckets and then to 1 gallon jugs – easier to mix and use.

    Cool link Pup.

Wow 55 gallons is alot of plastic, I buy mine in 5 gallon jugs gets me about 15,000 baits. I inject mine using vet syringe it takes a little more time but results in better baits then dipping. I made a cutter out 16 razor wheels bought from Hobby Lobby then mounted it small paint roller to cut my tails. Check out Tackleunderground Home there is a ton of info there also check out Del-Mart Molds

Wow... How do you properly mix 55 gallons?!??

Does it come without the PVC powder, and you add that as you go? That would make the most sense.

I buy by the 5-gallon bucket, but put it in milk jugs for easy mixing. Just give it a good shake before use. Easier and neater than pulling out the drill mixer every time.

Whoever revived this thread, I want to thank you. 1Perchjerker was a friend that helped me get started tying jigs several years ago and has since passed away. His name was Tommy and a finer person there has never been. Thanks for letting me visit with him once more.
